Harrison Calls For
Return of Bank’s Business;
Barksdale Named Birector
“Get the government out of banking," stated Burr P. Harrison at the annual dinner meeting of the stockholders of Rappahannock National Bank in the Washington Firehouse, Tuesday noon.
Speaking as a former banker, Judge Harrison reported that he remembered banking in 1933. He said that he approved of a government that turned in, in an emergency, and gave business a ‘shot in the arm’ to help -save the day, but when the socalled emergency continued until it took over the bankers' business, then that had gone too far. Cashier J. Rodes Brown, Jr., called °n P. W. Anderson to return thanks for the dinner. Wade H. Massie, Jr., introduced James W. Fletcher, who in turn, introduced Judge Harrison. The ladies of the Auxiliary of Trinity Episcopal church served a delicious dinner to the 34 guests present * ' President Robert W. Miller was unable to attend due to illness. At the business meeting following the dinner, James W. Fletcher resigned as a director and H. S. Barksdale, of Flint Hill, was named to the 'board. Mr. Fletcher’s resignation was accepted with7' regret, but the other directors stated that they had received another valuable director in Mr. Barksdale.
All other officers of the bank were re-named: Rpbert W. Miller,, presi-, dent; Waae H. Massie, Jr., vicepresident; J. Rodes Brown, Jr., cashier; Mrs. B. F. Bruce, assistant cashier; Mrs. Mary L. Payne, bookkeeper.
Directors are T. V. Williams, C. E. Johnson, Jr., E. M. Jones, Earl B. Combs, A. C. Latham, W. H. Massie, Jr., D. D. Miller, and H. S. Barksdale. •
