Mr. “Willie” Compton, Washington’s ex-mayor, celebrated his 87th birthday anniversary Monday, January 12. As is his custom, Mr. Willie made his daily two trips to the post

Mr. Willie’s comment on his health was to skate he was about as usual, and he may have used his favorite cuss-word, “ding-swizzled” in describing the spell of rainy weather, which he does not enjoy. He spends much of his time keeping up with the news. He can give hourly reports of worldwide and local news, from snow in New England to storms in Florida.
Mr. Willie, a printer who wears his 60-year button, is a frequent and welcome visitor at the print shop in Washington. With his years of experience, he has been able to give valuable information and his encouragement to the younger printers • has been appreciated.
