Flint Hill 4-H club met Monday with Mrs. Charles B. Wood, all star, as guest speaker. Mr. Wood talked to the 4-H members on topic of “How to Become an AU Star.” Committee appointed for National 4-H club •week were: Lucy Lillard, Virginia Russell, Lyn Atkins, and Eddie W'ood. Mrs. Frank Cary, 4-H leader, demonstrated making of head scarfs with all the girls showing their kitchen towels. Girls taking “Looking Your Best” discussed correct posture and a pleasing voice. Gertrude Shipp and Millie Sisk demonstrated washing of sweater.
Nancy Brown read devotions at the Sperryville I 4-H club. Mrs. Frances Thornton, all star, talked to members on "How To Become an All Star.” Project work this month is the Making of Wrist Pin cushions.

Merrill Named Fire Chief;
Company Plans New Rules
Rappahannock Volunteer Fire Company in meeting Tuesday night at the Courthouse, Washington, renamed L. V. Merrill as fire chief, with Bruce S. Bowie as assistant chief, Charles T. Bruce as second assistant, T. C. Lea as secretarytreasurer.
Charlie Jenkins was elected chief engineer, a new office installed after discussion convinced the members that there was a need for an engineer in charge of all equipment. New rules planned include a keeping of records on all firemen attending fires, the number of fires, and all .firemen to report to the chief before leaving a fire.
Business on hand included appointing a committee of Junior Hawkins and C. T. Bruce to see to the cleaning of the chimney at the Fire House. The fire company accepted the kind invitation of the ladies of the auxiliary to attend the annual firemen’s (banquet on January 30.
