Town Council Meeting
The Town Council of Washington held its regular meeting on Tuesday, January 13, at 7:30 p.m.
Highlights of the meeting were: Secure permission from the directors of Rappahannock National Bank to plant a permanent evergreen on the bank lot <to be used as a town Christmas tree; Voted to give $10 to Guy Burke for making fires in fire hall and cutting water on and off. $30 was allowed to purchase an evergreen
Invitation has been extended to Mr. Coldiron, resident engineer, to meet with the council in March and help outline the needs of town street improvements and to find out what the town can expect in the way of improvement for 1953.
Mrs. T. C. Lea appeared before the council and requested a street light in front of her property on Mt Salem Ave.
Mr. A. MacDaniel of Northern Va. Power Company of Front Royal has been invited to meet with the council in February to discuss their franchise.
An estimate has befen secured for repairing the confederate marker in the county courthouse yard. Efforts are being made to try and get county and the U.D.C. to repair it
Milton Hawkins was asked to be in charge of cleaning the stove and chimney of the fire hall. Harvey Clanagan was to be asked to remove Christmas tree, clean fire place and the grate at the Post Office.
