Sgt. Carroll Menefe^, 26, son of Mrs. C. Menefee, Sperryville, has successfully completed the pre-flight phase of his pilot training at Lackland Air Force Base, San. Antonio, Texas.

He was graduated in informal Ceremonies of the 3740th Pre-Flight Training Group, commanded by Col. William F. Stewart This group is one of the largest military training orgaius§tions of Lackland, the Gateway to the Air Force base, commanded by Brig. Gen. Wycliffe E. Steele. It provides initial aviation Cadet Training for hoth pilot and aircraft Observer students. With the first twelve weeks of the program that will lead to the wings of an Air Force flying officer behind him, he will enter basic flying train* > ing base Which will enable them to take a brief home leave. Although pfedominatly American, the pre-flight graduating class fqr eluded a number of cadets enrolled as Allied nationals under provisions j«rf » the Mutual Defense Assistance Plct •against enemy aggression.
