Point-to-Point Bates
The third annual Rappahannock Hunt Point-to-Point started the Virginia racing season off with a perfect day. An estimated crowd of 1500 saw the eight race feature. This year a junior race was held for the first time and was very successful. As usual die Farmers Race and die Hound Race were the biggest attractions for the spectators. The six jumping races with one exception were very close all the way as they have been in the past. /
After the race the Rappahannock Hunt had a buffet supper for the club members, social members, officials and the owners and riders of the horses entered iu the races, at _ the Greenaway's home.
The Ladies Fire Auxiliary and the Rappahannock Fire Company sold refreshments on the grounds and the hunt club wants to thank both of the organizations for doing such a splendid job. The club also wants to take this opportunity to express its appreciation to the Boy Scouts, Charlie Bruce, Bill Cyne, Rodes Brown Jr., William Buntin, Bob Menefee, Arthur Miller, D. D. Miller, Melvin Poe, Newbill Miller, Tony Walker, George Wood, Jimmy Wayland, William Armen trout and all the others who helped to make this year’s point-to-point races such a success.
