Post Office Sor?ey Requested

Rep. Burr P. Harrison has been promised a “complete investigation” of mail service in t$e Sjpventh Congressional District, with a view to correcting deficiencies. Mr. Harrison had asl^ed the Post Office Department to make such a survey, with particular attention to the possibility of expanding highway post office service in the light of reduced mail train service in the district

Assistant Postmaster General John C. Allen replied: “1 am pleased to inform you that in response to your request field officials of the Postal Transportation Service have been instructed to make a complete investigation of present service facilities throughout the area in question and to recommend any changes deemed necessary to correct any service deficiencies noted during the course of the survey.

“Because of your apparent knowledge of th£ many factors comprising an integrated Postal Transportation Service, you will realize that quite a bit of time will be required to conduct a survey of this magnitude. However, the survey will be finished at the earliest practicable date and upon its completion, I shall be pleased to submit for your consideration and comment any changes contemplated.”
