Alarmed Over Strike _
OveT 60 milk shippers throughout Rappahannock county are distressed and alarmed about the Alexandria strike of drivers of milk - collection trucks for the Sunbeam Dairy.
Pouring milk out is waste, and it’s an unhappy dairyman who works hard to have milk to ship, and then has to pour it out.
The strike was called at the Alexandria milk-collection station at 7 o’clock Friday morning, July 3. Dairy men of the county were notified by letters mailed by the Sunbeam Dairy on the same morning, but with a post office holiday coming up, some of the notices were late arriving.
Of the 66 dairy men listed as shipping milk to the city dairies, most of them are shipping from Castleton and Amissville neighborhoods. Castleton lists 14 milkshippers, with the same number in the Amissville community. Flint Hill lists 10, Washington 6, Sperryville 5, Woodville 2, Slate Mills 8, and a few from Viewtown, Boston, Huntly, Estes, and Etlan (these latter two on the F. T. road and one over the line into Madison couittg).
