Achievement Day
Friday, November 12
A 4-H County Achievement Day will be held Friday evening at 7:30 at the Rappahannock Co. High School, to recognize outstanding work done by individual 4-H’ers and 4-H leadres, in the past year.
Guest speakers will include W. ‘A. Turner and Frank Keesling. Mr. Turner is Medicine Man of the Virginia Chapter of 4-H All Stars and “Uncle Bill” to 4-H enthusiasts all over the state. He is also associate State 4-H club agent. His topic is “What A 4-H’er Strives For.” (Mr. Turner is a brother of L. J. Turner of Washington.)
Mr. Keesling, an International Farm Youth Exchange Student from Loudoun County, will tell of his trip to Scotland and show colored slides taken on the trip.
Miss Lelia Gentry will talk to the group on “How I Won My Trip To 4-H Congress.” Miss Gentry is the state winner in the home improvement project. She will attend this session of the Na. tional Congress the first- week in December.
Reports will be given by Miss Judy Hawkins and Lee Thornton on County Camp; on the All Star Award by Miss Betty Rutherford and on the Accomplishments of the Council by Miss Peachy Lyne.
For the entertainment feature' of the evening the winners in the “Share the Fun” contest will perform.
Virginia 4-H club members, some 61,000 strong will join Rappahannbck County 4-H’ers in observing National 4-H Achievement Day. v
Sharing the honors in Virginia with our 164 H.D. leaders will be more than 5,000 other men and women who serve as local volunteer leaders.
The 4-H’ers in the past year, working toward their long range goals, carried out projects to produce and conserve food, feed and fibers; and to make their farms mort effecient and profitable; to stress personal health and to cooperate in a wide variety of community services.
Everyone is invited to join the 4-H’ers ii* observing Achievement Day, this Friday, November 12.
