Over ‘54 Figures
The Washington Town Council, in their November meeting, held Tuesday night in the court house, approved the proposed town, budget, which calls for $1935, a slight decrease over last year’s budget of $1982.

Mrs. Christine Johnston reported -that the benches have been stored for the winter in the basement of Lea’s Store. She stated that one had been broken and made a motion that it be repaired prior to next spring. Mrs. Verner seconded this motion and it was carried unanimously.
Concerning the roof on the store building on Gay Street owned by Edward Clopton, it was reported that nothing had been done to improve the situation and now the last support has been taken away and thus the danger of it falling is even greater. Following discussion it was decided to contact Mr. Clopton on this matter again.
A motion was made to pay bills presented to the council.
Various smaller matters were under consideration, including the cleaning and repair of the stove in the Town Hall; the painting of * the yellow no parking lines in town, including an additional one to be painted on Middle Street, near the Antique Shop; and the acquiring of a town Christmas Tree for this year.
