Rapp’k Ministers Form Association
As a result of three meetings held over a period of weeks, ministers of various churches in Rappahannock County have felt the need for the formation of a county wide ministerial association. On Monday, November 8, those present approved a statement of purpose setting fohh the aims and character of the organization. The statement which was endorsed by the Rev. Messrs. J. R. Frizzell, Jr., H. G. Thach, R. J. Trout, A. P. Thompson and G.,M. Profitt is reproduced below. The first regular meeting of the Association will be held on Monday, December 6, at Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church in Sperryville at 1:30 p.m.
Purpose and Aims of the Ministerial Association of Rappahannock County:
We the undersigned, desiring to form an Association of Christian Ministers in Rappahannock County, make this statement of purpose. Our Association is a voluntary one in which we seek the benefits of fellowship and study and through which we pray that the Holy Spirit will direct us more fully in the work of the Kingdom of God..Our Association is open to all Christian pastors ministering to congregations in this County.
We meet together as ministers of Christ, ordained in His Service according to the tradition in which each one of us stands. We desire, by our combined action, to witness more effectively in this County to the redeeming power of Jesus Christ and His Gospel. But we wish to make plain our understanding that policies, actions or resolutions which this Association may approve, enact or recommend are not to be considered as binding upon the congregation which we represent.
May God grant us grace to serve Him faithfully holding the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace.
