A. H. Teslce, Extension Horticulturist of V.P.I., will demonstrate the method of salvaging apple trees blown over by Hurricane Hazel at F. D. Wood’s orchard near Washington at 10:30 o’clock Friday morning, November 12th. Ail fruit growers are cordially invited to attend.
Dr. Frank Horsfall, Associate Horticulturist of V.P.I., in charge of rodent control work of the Experiment Station, will assist £. M. Jones in applying a ground spray designed to control pine mice in orchard on or around November 17th. Since weather conditions r must be favorable no exact date can be set and consequently growers who are interested should be on the look out for spraying activities in Ned’s Miller orchard during the middle of next week.
More^nd more interest is being shown in ground sprayed rodenticides and 2Vz pounds of endrin per acre has shown more promise than any other material used in research conducted at V.P.I.
Dr. Horsmall was by the office^ last Monday and advise now was a good time to control mite in orchards by the ground spray method however indescriminate spraying and means of applying the spray could easily be too expensive.
