On October 8, 1954, Va. was advised that these funds had been made available. On October 19, and 20, Virginia officials met with U.S.D.A. officials in Asheville, N. C. for briefing on the program. On October 22, leaders of all phases of Virginia Livestock industry met with Virginia Department of Agriculture people to work out a program for the state, making use of the new U.S.D.A. funds. This proposal was submitted to Washington, and written approval was received November 1 1954. The program is now in effect, as follows: - -c
1. Virginia will continue to furnish Brucella Strain 19 vaccine to veterinarians for calf vaccination without cost. ‘
2. The U.S.D.A. will pay veterinarians for calf vaccination at “ the rate of 50c per head. There are no restrictions on calf vaccina- tion—any calf—anywhere in Va.
3. The U.S.D.A. will pay veterinarians for herd testing and retesting at the rate of 50c per head. Herds must be signed up under Plan A or Plan B to get
