I will continue my efforts to reduce expenditures and -then, as chairman of the Finance Committee, I will urge equitable tax reductions out of savings.

Waste and extravagance have infiltrated nearly every agency of the government, and there is no question in my mind that great savings can bfe accomplished without impairing our essential government functions.
