Tear, introduced Mr. Brown who gave a short but humorous talk and then introduced Mr. Marsden, the speaker of the evening, who gave an interesting brief of his office and Civil Defense in Virginia, foK •lowed by a showing of a recent, i color film “A New Look At The: ‘H’ Bomb." A short Open Forum' | followed. j Mr. Tear thanked all present and particularly the Auxiliary for their support during the past year, calling attention to the contribution by the Auxiliary of $1200.00 toward the new truck, their covering of the chairs in the Fire Hall and the near completion of facili-; ties and furnishings in the Fire Hall and kitchen. The Amissville Department was especially pleased with a donation this’ week of $126.05 from the Amissville Woman’s Progressive Club. _ _____ __ '

State Polio Meeting
Representing the Rappahannock Chapter of the National Foundaticaffi for Infantile Paralysis, G. M. Profitt, Flint Hill, met with delegates from all sections of the state, in Roanoke early this week to make plans- for the inoculation against polio of almost 200,000 Virginia school children this spring. .Salk vaccine, made possible by the March of Dimes funds, will be administered to approximately 331 first and second grade youngsters ; without cost to parents in Rap* pahannock County, according to Dr. Thomas L. Allman, County j Healfh Officer. j
“The inoculation .will be entirely under the supervision of the ! County Health Officer, Dr. Allman,” it was stated in a talk made | at the meeting.
“However, we sincerely hope the local N.F.I.P. Chapter can render valuable assistance in this the most important scientific event of the century,” Dr. Harold Kennedy, reminded the 250 delegates present. Dr. Kennedy went on to point out that the use of the vaccine is predicted from the finding of the Dr. Francis Evaluation Committee- to be made known early in April.
The Reverend H. G. Thatch is : conducting a prayer and discussion service at the Flint Hill Methodist Church, each Wednesday evening at 7:30 o’clock.
