Friday night, March 18£h at the home of Mr*. Clarence Racer. Mrs. Racer led discussion on the program topic “The Cooperative Program—What It Does.” Those who took part on the .program were Mrs. V. R. Updike, Mr*. Willie Payne, Miss Gladys Payne, and Mrs. Charles Reid. Following the business meeting, the hostess served delicious refreshirients.
Rosalie A. Hackley
The community was grieved to learn of the death of Mrs. Rosalie A. Hackley, 69, beloved citizen of Amissville, whose death occurred Tuesday morning, March 15th at the Physicians’ Hospital, Warrenton, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Hackley’s many friends gathered at the Amissville Methodist Church, Thursday afternoon to pay her tribute. The Reverend Harold Thach officiated at the church services and at the burial rites in the family section of the church cemetery.
Mrs. Hackley was the widow of Lewis Ervin Hackley, and the daughter of the late James Graham Dowdell and Mrs. Rosalie Smith Dowdell, She is survived by 3 daughters, Mrs. Robert Jefferies, Mrs. Clyde Sherman and Mrs. Robert Forbes, all of Arlington; 3 sons, E. Ciraham Hackley of Amissville, A. Ervin Hackley. of Lurav and Leon B. Hackley of Washington, D. C.; 2 sisters, Mrs. Lee Dowdell of Amissville and Richmond, and Mrs. Roger Clenjent of Fork Union; 2 brothers, Byrne M. Ritnour of Philadelphia and Stewart H. Ritnour of Washington, D. C. and 8 grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were Ralph Rowzie. WiTliam Bywaters, John Tapp, Elliott Doyle, Edward Tapp, William Laing, Hunter Curtis, Theodore Barron and George Jones. Her many friends and associates served as honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. Robert J. Boyd returned Thursday evening from several days stay at Natural Bridge where she wai attending the State Con'fefetice of the Virginia Daughters of the~American Revolution; she accompanied Mrs. John L. Jef. fries, Jr., Mrs. C. Roy Jones and Mrs. William J. Smith of Culpeper.
Mrs. M. K. Norris of Rixeyville arrived Sunday for a week’s visit with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr: and Mrs. George W, Thornhill of “Rag View.”
