As long as Rappahannock’s poultry industry remains on the farm flock basis it will be of questionable economy if not an unprofitable enterprise.
From the standpoint of livestock management among the most serious short comings are: (1) Failure to control internal and exteral parasites; (2) a passive concern over the many advantages available through artificial breeding especially of dairy cattle; (3) too few farmers taking advantage of increased income afforded by marketing their feeder calves and feeder cattle through organized asles (4) low income per breeding female kept There are simple and comparatively inexpensive ways of correcting these faults; ways that are within reach of any man interested in increasing his net income.
