Rappahannock Grand Jury was recalled into session on Tuesday, November 17th and returned an indictment for felony against Pete Anderson Atkins, charged with unlawful shooting intq a dwelling. James W. Fletcher was appointed by the court to defend the accused, who entered a plea of guilty to the charge and was sentenced t» a year in the penitentiary, Atkins waived trial by Jury and was tried by .Judge R. y. Snead. „

Forest Fires
The danger of forest fires always increases with the opening of the general hunting season in Virginia. The Virginia Division of Forestry reports more forest fires in Virginia to date for 1959 than for any recent year. Oiief Fore9t Wardens arid Foresters have their fingers crossed that the weather will be in their favor during die season. Chief Forest Warden Raymond Johnson of Rappahannock County stated that danger from fires was certain ti increase with the large group of hunters in the woods. He also said common senseon the part of ill persons would save hunting areas from burning. Places and areas to hunt are scarce now without burning up more natural cover and food for wildlife.
