Dear Editor,
Congratulations to die RappaHannock News on its 10th anniversary and on the 10th Anniversary Edition.
The first subscriptions to the Rappahannock News were received even before the presses were up, from: Out of town Burr Harrison ; and locally F. Clyde Baggarly and D. D. Miller.
Lest it not go down in the history of the paper, 1 must add one name to the loyal supporters. “Mr. Charlie” Bruce. Mr. Charlie was officially known as the “singlewrap expert”. It mattered not whether the paper went to bed at 10 o’clock Wednesday night or 4 o’clock Thursday morning, Mr. Charlie was always there to help. It would be a job for even an IBM to count those smoothly wrapped papers that Mr. Charlie turned out over the years. And smooth they were too. To testify—one day the editor of the Northumberland Echo was visiting our shop, and his first question was “Where is your single-wrap machine?” It took some convincing to make him believe that it was a man-machine responsible for the job.
