'In its first year of operation, 594 people pledged their eyes to the Hun ton Memorial, Eye Bank and the Bank was able to provide donor eyes to 13 people. Pledges now on file numberj 1600 and 45 persons were given restored vision through the Eye Bank in the past year. In addition, valuable knowledge has been gained through various research projects and studies.
Mr. Middleton reminded the Lions representatives that the Eye Bank program has been endorsed by all faiths and religions and that its sole purpose is the restoration! of sight to the blind and improved knowledge through research and study. Due to the increase in cornea damaging accidents, anyone may need the services of the eye bank. People of all ages and walks of life have had corneal transplants.
