Fran, of Fran’s Kitchen, was also one of the favorite friends of the shop. When the hours became morning, and Fran had to take her brood home, a pot of coffee would be left in the restaurant to keep us awake while the presses ran.

Burma Bowie was bookkeeper of the original Rappahannock News, and its right hand for years. “Grade” Ried did anything that needed to be done the mostest. Paula Miller and Neville Wood were first class “devils.”

There were many others who got ink on their hands at the Rappahannock News—Marion Watts, Jake Cary, Jackie Price, Mahlon Ramey—but stop we must before half a galley of sorials will have to be dumped to make way for this omnibus. And that’s dangerous dumping.

Sincerely,

Gladys R. Bowie
