RCHS Boys Bow In
Regional Defeat
Though the RCHS boys basketball team was eliminated in the Group II Regional Tournament held at Charlottesville last Friday night, a Richmond newspaper complimented them on their good showing against Midlothian’s extremely tall team.
Many loyal fans were present for the game. A bus load of Rappahannock students, chaperoned by Mrs. Fisher Burford and Mrs. Sally Palmer attended.
Enthusiasm was high as Butch Browning got the tip-off against Midlothian’s six foot seven inch center, and hopes for a victory were good at the end of the first quarter whqn the score stood Midlothian 10 and RCHS 8.
RCHS boys were not hitting with their usual accuracy and the Midlothian boys fulled steadily; ahead to a 66-34'victory. Butch Browning was high scorer for RCHS with 13 points, followed closely by Richard Belch with 11.
Unconfirmed rumor is that of Midlothian's thirteen man squad, eleven are seniors who have played together for four years. Of their starting lirte-up, no man is under six feet with an average height well above that. They have an excellent team and we extend our congraulations to Midlothian, who will participate in the State Tournament at V.M.I., Lexington, Va.
Our congratulations also to the RCHS team, and their coach, Mr. Larry Bolyard, who won their first district championship since the consolidation of the "high schools in Rappahannock County.
