The Castleton Community Volunteer Fire Department has just, completed a course in Red Cross First Aid. This course was given by Mr. John Parker and Mrs. Evan Ashby, volunteer Red Cross Instructors, who traveled from Remington, Va. to teach it.
Reports keep coming in of the work of the American Red Cross at the height of -Hurricane Carla. 638 shelters were open_many still are, and at the peak- of the storm, • 204,536 persons were sheltered and fed. Now comes the tremendous job of helping all those people back on their feet. Just providing the bare necessities of household furnishings, repairs, occupational equipment needed for family support, food clothing and medical care for 38,223 families is a staggering task.
The Fauquier Chapter is forwarding cash contributions which have been donated to help these familiees. Anyone wishing to contribute may mail their check payable to the American Red Cross and earmarked “Hurricane Relief’ to Fauquier Chapter, American Red Cross, Warren ton, Va.
