Last Saturday afternoon the young people’s class of Slate Mills, Baptist Sunday School went bowling in Fredericksburg. Those going were Misses Mabelle Lamb, Bety Dodson, Betty Weaver, Ruby Jean Brooke, Frances Johnson, Eddie Paul, Charles and Bob Kennedy, Mrs. Eloise Weaver, Mrs. Lanell Wilbur and -Mrs. Mallisa Johnson.
Last Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Conner Jenkins, Richard Jenkins, Mrs. Venie Jenkins of Culpeper and Miss Lillian "Dodson of Sperryville visited Mr. antf-Mis. Frank Jenkins and family in Fairfax. On Thursday the Conner Jenkins were callers of Mr. and Mrs. James Hitt in Culpeper.
Debra Racer attended ^a birthday party Sunday afternoon in Sperryville honoring the birthday of Beverly Sue Atkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Atkins.
Misses Betty and Jean Kennedy and their house guest Miss Sherleen Dodson all of Arlington spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Waver Kennedy. Bob rKennedy has returned to V.P.I. in Blacksburg for his senior year.
Recent guests of Dr. and Mrs. R. W. Quaintance were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Carder. Mr. Carder ■ is a retired engineer who worked last winter) in the Philippines. He was born near Slate Mills in 1894 and is toying to locate information about this. They were enroute to Cape Coral, Fla by way of Sherill.
Mr. and Mrs. Shelton Scroggins of Lignum were recent visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Olney Kennedy. Sunday dinner guests were Mr. and Mrs. James W. Cubbage and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Barnhart of Culpeper.
Visitors last week of Mrs. I. JBrooke and her daughters were Miss Joann Crawford of Middleburg, Ky. and George Baber of Washington, D. C. Weekend visitors were Capt. and Mrs. D. C. Plantt of D. C. Monday Mrs. Brooke and daughters, Mrs. Mallisa Johnson and Mrs. Lanell Wilbur spent the day in Washington, D. C.
Mrs. George Jenkins and sons and Mrs. Agnes Parrott of Culpeper were Saturday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Dawson in Ruckersville.
