and Oh. coming into Rome over the Collisseufti was just breathtaking. Rome airport is too wonderful, so clean and modem and efficient. A change of planes and we were flying over Southern Italy. The land looks so barren and desolate it is easy to see why they are so poor. Then the very blue Mediterranean and Crete with its hills and craggy peaks jutting out of the fog so that it looked like a mirage. And soon Cairo_hot and humid but so exciting to look around the terminal an see every person of a different nationality. Very Arab too, in that it took ail sorts of time and confusion to get through customs. They didn’t even search the luggage_it was all just general beefi^n. Then.(soon my first wonderful glimpse of the Nile with its giant lighted tower standing across from us!
