CAIRO . . . “What an unbelievable day this has been. Less than a day ago I was saying goodbye at Idlewild.and now I’m lollingin a hot tub at the Semiraniis in Cairo! ’ , As soon as we got settled aboard that huge Alitalia jet—and there were only 12 persons aboard—a cold supper was served, and by 1 a.m. everyone was ready for sleep. Since each person could use three seats across for himself, it was almost as good as having a berth. I did’nt sleep long, however, because by 3 a.m. New York time it was getting light and I wanted to watch the sun come up. Below us was a vast ocean of clouds—and then I must have dozed again be■ cause when I next looked the sky 'above was golden arid the clouds below were pure white. I. wish I could describe my feelings about flying a jet. Surely one should seem small and a bit afraid in a little plane in so vast a sky, but quite the contrary, you feel completely safe and comfortable. Breakfast about 5 a.m., then a 45 minute stop in London with congenial company—2 engineers enroute to Tripoli and work in the oil .fields. Then down to Rome,
