During November 1961, 24 persons were convicted of spotlighting deer in Virginia and were ..required j to pay $3,750 in fines, according to Webb Midyette, Game Commission Law Enforcement Division Chief. A total of 550 persons were convicted of various infractions of the game'laws during the month. Among these were 102 convicted of hunting without permission, 98 charged with hunting out of season, 87 apprehended without licensfcs, 63 arraigned for lack of big game or forest stamps, an*l 48 found using illegal guns. Fishing without a license was the most common violation among the 47 persons convicted of violating the fishing laws, and a lade of proper safety equipment was the mam charge in 27 convictions for boating law violations.
