^^All veterans receiving non-service-connected pensions from the Veterans Administration and all widows and children drawing VA death pensions have received annual income questionnaire punched cards with their December checks. Pension receivers should be aware of the importance of having these questionnaires properly filled out| and promptly returned to the VA.

Failure to return an income questionnaire by February 1 autoi matically cuts off the February check. Since the pension depends on the answers given to the income questions, extreme care should be taken that all answers are accurate. All income “available” to the individual during the calendar year counts as income. Interest credited to savings accounts on the last day of the year is income for that year because such interest is “available” in 1961. A payroll check or other income, however, which may have been earned during 1961 but not paid prior to January - would not count as 1961 income. This office stands ready to pro-j vide help or advice on preparation of fthese questionnaires.
