Bird Watchers Bonus
Wintertime has arrived with full force, and those who enjoy feeding and watching birds in their yards already making plans to coax their feathered friends into good viewing range. A 92-page book, “Birdlife of Virginia,” published by the Virginia Commission of Game and Inland Fisheries is the ideal handbook for the beginning or expert bird watcher. The study of birds, their classification, value and habits are all discussed in the book. Six full pages of color plates show the common Virginia birds in their natural habitat and aid in *• identification. The game commission charges 25 cents for each booklet to help defray printing and mailing costs.
Although the Virginia birdlife booklet contains plans for bird houses and bird feeders, the Commission also has a free four-page reprint (Number D-l) which gives detailed plans for building these and other types of wildlife feeding and shelter structures. These publications may be obtained from the Education Division, Virginia Game Commission, Box 1642, Richmond 13, Virginia. Be sure to enclose 25 cents for each bird book ordered.
For schools, churches, bird study classes or individuals, the Game Commission has available two different sets of four 20-inch by inch full-color charts of birds and apimals for $2.00 per set. These can be picked up at the Game Commission office at 7 North Second Street in Richmond or ordered by mail.
