Applying the same rule, broiler supplies in February will run about three per cent above a year earlier, when prices were T7% to 18% cents.

Last week broiler prices in Virginia were 16% to 17. North Carolina was quoting a base price of 15 cents with contract sales running 1/4, to %-cent higher. Georgia had the same base price with contract sales as much as a cent higher. DelMarVa had eased back to 16 to 16%.

HOGS

After a rise of a dollar or so since early December, hog prices look as if they will pause about where they are for a while and then ease on up in February.

Peeking ahead, hog prices this year would seem to be headed for a more normal price pattern as far as seasonal fluctuations are concerned.

Basic strength was indicated when prices held through last week despite a six per cent increase in marketing over last year across the country.

Violent weather changes will affect marketings and consequently prices from week to week for the next two months.
