Madison Says No
It’s becoming popuar these days to say NO. The City of Newburgh made quite a reputation by saying no to welfare abuses. Now Madison has come along and turned sdown a Federal health program, even though it was “cfree.” As Dr. LeGarde told the Board of Supervisors, It won’t cost you anything. It’s all (Federal money. , Apart from that/being a ridiculous proposition (who but the U. S. taxpayers pay for the U. S. budget.) the Board just did not approve of the program. They opposed increased Federal expenditures and they opposed further Federal invasion into the field of medecine. But what stuck in my mind, and has echoed over again so often since, was the statement of Supervisor Newton Lohr He said, “Gentlemen, you cannot say you are against these programs and accept the money they hand out under
