The World’s Telephones report of January 1, 1961, states that the world gained 8.1 million phones in 1960 according to H. E. Lindsey, manager of the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company of Virginia. C&P customers can call 138,239,700 telephones, 97.6 per cent of all the telephones in the world. All figures in the report are as of January 1, 1961, since it takes a year to collect and. compile the data and is done by the American Telephone and Telegraph Company.
