News For Veterans
A discharge or dismissal from service by sentence of a General Court Marshal bars a veteran from benefits administered by the Veterans Administration.
Iif the veteran was not guilty of the charge filed against him, or there is reason to feel that the sentence was not right, or too severe, the veteran may request a review of his case and ask that a discharge under honorable conditions b e granted him. If the veteran makes a case for himself he will be given a hearing, and he and his representative may be present when the case is heard. If the decision of the General Court Martial is reversed change his records to show that separation was under honorable conditions.
A recent decision has held that the action of the Board for Correction of military records has the status of a special act of Congress for the veteran’s relief, making the veteran eligible for VA benefits to which he may be entitled.

took off last Sunday by bus from Centerville. First stop was the National 4-H Center in Chevy Chase. Then on to New York where they toured radio city and visited the United Nations. Hope we will be hearing from them while there.
