Those who do not wish to receive advertising circulars, or “junk” mail, should mail directly to the mailer and request that their names be removed from his mailing list. “Though such requests are not always heeded, compliance is usually immediate," the postmaster says.
If unwanted circular matter continues to be received, patrons may write "Refused” on items placed in their box and promptly redeposit them in the mails. Matter that has been refused by the addressee is returned to the sender if it bears the sender’s endorsement, “Return Requested.” The sender is charged a minimum of 8c per piece for the services performed.
