Judd Burke of Flint Hill was awarded $50,000 for personal injury by a jury in Rappahannock County Circuit Court after a two-day trial last Tuesday and Wednesday. He was represented by attorney George H. Davis, Jr., of Washington. Mr. Burke was struck by an automobile August 28, 1961, as he crossed Rte. 522 in the village of Flint Hill. He was disabled to the extent that he can not pursue his duties at American Viscose in Front Royal where he was employed or his trade as a blacksmith. John Henry Jenkins, also of Flint Hill, a mechanic at Russell Bros. Garage there, struck Mr. Burke as he crossed the road about dark after leaving his car to enter another vehicle on the far side of the street, according to testimony. After two days of trial, the jury’s verdict was *We the Jury on the issue joined in the case of Judd Burke, plaintiff, versus John Henry Jenkins, defendant, at law case 396, find the defendant John Henry Jenkins guilty of negligence and award the plaintiff, Judd Burke the amount of $50,000.
