Street Lights

Installed In Town

The Northern Virginia Power Company completed the installation of new street lights in the Town of Washington last week. The lights used are designed to give more illumination at intersections but in a concentrated pattern. They produce 2500 lunums of light whereas the former ones produced 1000 L. It was hoped that with the new lighting at the corners the lights in between would no longer be necessary. The former light fixtures are obselete and according to the policy of the Potomac Edison system cannot be installed if once removed. For this reason some bulbs have been removed on a trial basis. The Town Council will have a hearing a suggestions in regard to street lighting at its regular meeting on Tuesday, April 9th at 8:00 p.m. Prior to this time the members will make a survey to determine the best placement for adequate lighting according to the blue print presented by the power company within their budget.
