Cole, local lanager of the Virginia Telephone & .Telegraph Co„ a three minute statlofi-to-etation call can be made between any two points in the United States, excepting Hawaii and Alaska, for $1.00 or less (plus tax) from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. For example, a call from Washington, Va. to San Francisco will cost only $1.00 for the initial period. In 1940 this same call cost $4.25. Corresponding reductions apply to each additional minute of conversation. Over all, today’s interstate telephone rates are lO'c' below 1940 levels.
