Berea, Ky., August 1 — In every county there are dozens of school drop-outs who wish they might start in school again, but they are older and they have fallen behind. They feel out of place returning to their local school. They want to do something to help themselves but they are not sure which way to turn. At Berea, Ky. there is one of the few schools in the country where a boy or girl who has been delayed in his schooling may go and not feel out of place. The Foundation School, with an enrollment of 300 and connected with Berea College, has an ungraded class where students of any age — 15 on up— may enter classes according to their need. There are some who could not read or write when they came to us. In the Berea setup they may move as Rapidly as, they can. As soon «s they are able to begin high school work, they are permitted to do so in this same Foundation School, a high-ranking, accredited school. It is a tremendous opportunity for the boy or girl who really wants to do something about getting a high school education.
