With the authorization of 50 additional state troopers, effective July 1, colonel C. W. Woodson, Jr., Superintendent of State Police, advised that the Department is interested in applications from eligible young men seeking police careers. Applicants must have a high school education and express willingness to serve anywhere in Virginia. Although one cannot be stationed in his home county, consideration may be given to his being stationed in a general area of his choice.
A physical and adaptation test must be passed, with minimum height standards 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 4 inches. Weight must be.pro portional to height but cannot be below 160 pounds or above 220. A character investigation also is conducted.
