Soil samples for chemical analysis brought in during February dwindled. For the month the office received and recommended lime (where needed) and fertilizer but 15 samples as compared to 28 samples the last ten days of January. A total of 45 recommendations were made last month.
The summary through March shows recommendations as fol lows: 7 on maintenance of mixed hays involving 94 acres one on Alfalfa establishment - acreage not reported, 10 for oats 127 1/2 acres (no acreage given on two samples), seeding mixed hay two and twenty. Pasture establishment three and 33 1/2 acres, pasture main tenance 43 samples 1014 acres (no acreage reported on five : samples). Corn for silage 9 samples 871/2 acres (no acre age reported on three). Corn for grain 1 sample from 6 ■acres. Orchard cover eleven samples from 215 acres. Only where acreages were reported could total tonnage of lime be determined; these result
