Work on Schedule
Motorists in Virginia will soon be seeing a change in those signs dotting the highways where arterial roadprojects are under way. You’ve seen the signs: "Another project in Virginia's arterial highway program — Approved by the 1964 General Assembly." Now they will be updated to inform motorists that the arterial work is on schedule with funds provided by the 1966 General Assembly, which adjourned March 12. Additional highway construe tion revenue totaling an estimated $64 million for the coming biennium was providec at this year’s session of the Legislature. Highway Commissioner Douglas B. Fugate says that, besides permitting extra improvements on the State’s urban and secondary systems, the additional sum will speed up the arterial development and put it on schedule for completion by 1975.
