ASC to Hold
Stale Conference
A State conference of county committeemen and county office managersof the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) will be held on April 18, 19, and 20 in the Hotel Roanoke, Roanoke. This is their first conference in three years. About four hundred ASCS people are expected to attend. Representatives at the conference from Rappahannock County will be H. S. Barksdale, Chairman, of the county committee; and J. W. Coates, manager of the ASCS county office. They will hear top officials from the United States Department of Agriculture discuss matters that face the administrators of farm programs.
A highlight of the conference will be an address by Assistant Secretary of Agri^ culture, Byron G. Allen, at a banquet Tuesday evening, April 19. Dr. Paul D. Sanders, well-known editor of theSputh ern Planter, will speak on the first day of the conference. Other speakers from the Department of Agriculture include Horace D. Godfrey, Administrator of ASCS; RayFltz gerald. Deputy Administrator for ASCS State and County Operations; and Harry A. Peters, Director of the Northeast Area, ASCS. Registration will commence at 10 a.m. on April 18. The conference will adjourn at noon on April 20.
