Traffic Crashes

Two single vehicle traffic crashes occurred during the week-end in Rappahannock, according to Trooper J, D. Willis. Sunday on Route 620, two and a half miles east of Sperryville a 64 Volkswagen station wagon operated by Christopher Kilpatrick of Richmond overturned. Investigation disclosed Kilpatrick rounded a curve, ran off the right of the road, swerved back into the road and the. vehicle rolled over several times. John G. Carney III of Woodville, a passenger in the Volkswagen, sustained a fracture, abrasions and cut tendons of his left hand. He was taken to Ft. Belvoir Hospital by Rappahannock Rescue Squad. Kilpatrick was not injured. He was charged with failing t© maintain proper control of his vehicle, said Trooper Wil lis. The vehicle was a total loss. At 3 a.m. Sunday morning, April 10 on Route 614 in Smed ley Hollow James Robert Mundy, Jr. of Washington, operating a 63 Ford coupe ran off the road, through a fence uprooting a walnut tree. He sustained lacerations under the left eye, according to Trooper Willis. Mundy was charged with failing to keep his vehicle under proper control. A two-car collision occurred Friday night at the west limits of the Town of Washington. Involved in the crash were Mrs, Weiland B. Flynt of Washington operating a 64 Rambler sedan and William McKinley Fletcher also of Washington in a 58 Buick sedan.
