Miss Sue Haggarty of Sperry ville participated in a hundred mile trail ride in Woodstock, Vt. early in September. She was among 52 entries and plao ed fourth in the lightweight division. Miss Haggarty rode a 4-year old filly, Gin Fizz, owned by a friend, Mrs. G. M. L. Gill of Barnard, Vt., after her own horse, Pumpkin, became lame on arrival there. The endurance trail ride is sponsored annually by the Green Mountain Horse Association and is the oldest contest of that kind though many others are patterned after it.
Bill Tapp on Leave From State Dept. Post
Bill Tapp of Amissville, who has been in foreign service with the State Department, is spending some time with his parents Mr. and Mrs. John A. Tapp. He arrived in Amissville Thursday from the Ameri can Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq after spending two years in many European and Asiatic countries. At the end of his six-weeks leave, he will take an assignment in the Philippines.
