Center Dedicated
At what was recently known as Longlea Estates on a 671 acre site near Boston, Culpeper, County, a Freedom Studies Center of the Institute for American Strategy was dedicated, Sunday. The Center Is said to be the first educational institution in America to devote itself exclusively to combatting the Communist cold war.
Approximately a thousand persons were present to hear a number of notables including Sen. Harry F. Byrd, Jr., Rep. John 0. Marsh, Jr., .Sen Thomas J. Dodd of Conn., RCp. Dante B. Fascell of Fla., feeveral top ranking admiral^ generals, and representatives of many national organizations Telegrams were received from President Johnson. House Speaker McCormack, FBI Director Hoover, andGen< Earle G. Wheeler, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Navy Band provided music arid flags were presented to the Center by William L. Gray, commander. Department of Virginia, The American Legion, and by Marshall E. Brookman, commander, Culpeper Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Wallace R. Fanning, Jr. of NBC was master of ceremonies. Institute President John M. Fisher told the gathering that the first seminar, given for White House aides, had just ;been completed. He announcjed plans for an $11 million development program to ' accommodate 400graduate stuI dents.
