Introduction of this new service improvement complies with the State Corporation |Commission's order of Deitember 29, 1965. During the past year C&P has been proceeding with the necessary engineering, ordering, and installation of central office equipment, wire, and other facilities to meet this major service improvement. Reed emphasized the fact that this major undertaking will require approximately three years to complete beginning January 1, and an expenditure in excess of $6 million over and above normal construction and maintenance costs. Already under way in the Culpeper area are such service improvements as a central office equipment addition in Sperryville and major underground cable expansions on the Sperryville Pike and Orange Road. Total costs of these and other projects alone amount to approximately $724,000.
