Snowfall Causes

Skidding, Crashes

The seasori’s first snow fell Tuesday leaving a blanket of soft, wet snow measuring from one to four inches. Much of it melted as It fell on the ground which had been warmed by last week’s temperatures In the 70’s. Snow began falling about 8 a.m. and continued until 8 p. m. Schools were dismissed early Tuesday afternoon and were closed Wednesday. Two traffic accidents occurred because of slippery roads Tuesday before the snow ceased. Mrs. Brooksie Bradley of Missouri sustained an arm injury when the 66 Volks* wage* to which she was a passenger with her husband overturned on Route 231 six miles south of Sperryville. According to Trooper J. B. I Willis the car skidded in the snow and turned over. It was declared a total loss. The Bradleys were enroute to New York.
