Veterans News

It Is not unusual for a veteran :o sell the home that he pur:hased with a GI loan, then earn that the purchaser has iefaulted in the monthly payments, and the house has been sold without bringing enough to satisfy the loan. In such a :ase the original veteran ownir is in debt to the Government.

The following are some pointers for a veteran to remember 0 be released from liability vhen selling his GI home; 1. The purchaser need not be 1 veteran, but must agree to jssume the veteran’s liability. 2. The loan must be current. 3. The purchaser must meet /A credit requirements. 4. Release is not completed intll all forms are executed ty the veteran, the purchaser tnd the VA. 5. Release from liability loe6 not restore the veteran’s mtitlement to another GI loan, fo have entitlement restored he loan must be paid in full. 6. The only charge made by he VA is the cost of a credit eport. All legal fees in the elease must be paid by the reteran or the purchaser.
