From Asian Trip
Robert W. Sealock, formerly of Sperryville, Va., recently returned from Southeast Asia where he inspected LOR AN C calibration stations for the U. S. Naval Oceanographic Office Suitland, Maryland. Mr. Sealock is employed as a geodesist by the Oceano graphic Office and has worked there since 1946. He said it rained the entire time he was in Southeast Asia. In one area in South Vietnam, the plane in which he was being transported eva cuated a U. S. soldier who had been wounded in a fierce battle with the Vietcong near
Loran C stations. Mr. Sealock is the brother of Mrs. James Brasher, formerly of Sperryville, Va., but who now resides in Arroyo Grande, Calif. He was graduated from Hargrave Military Academy, Chat ham, Virginia, in 1943. He now resides in Washington, D. C. The U. S. Naval Oceanographic Office, formerly the Hydrographic Office is commanded by Captain L. E. DeCamp. Founded in 1830, the Office has world-wide respon sibilities for navigational safety and for the collection and distribution of scientific information about the oceans in support of the national defense interests as they relate to the sea.
Mr. Sealock is the son oi Mrs. Zueline Sealock, £ former postmaster at Sperryville.
