This year’s 15,065,395 gallons of regular bituminous material to be put down by contract is over a million gallons more than last year’s 13,989,866 gallons.

The work will require the application of 629,293 tons of aggregate covering material and will be getting under way by early May.

Bids will be requested later for heavy-duty asphalt resurfacing on sections of the more h e a v i 1 y - traveled highways throughout the state, and for bituminous material to be used by state forces in patching and resurfacing. The resurfacing and rehabilitation work last year cost more than $11 million.
